The Colorful Dance of Fall

-Debra Russino

Christmas season is my favorite time of year. Still, I love the change from the steamy days of summer to the cool, crisp nights of fall that somehow seems to warm my heart!

The beautiful colors of autumn can be seen everywhere you turn. Many local neighborhoods decorate their houses with colorful foliage. The aroma of cinnamon and pumpkin scented candles constantly burning are wonderful for the senses!

I consider this time of year a very welcomed transition, to breathe in the fresh air and bask in the comfortable weather while it lasts. Finally being able to open our windows and doors to allow the beautiful cool breeze to sail through our homes once again.

This is what I refer to as the calm before the storm.  It’s a time that allows us to enjoy this comfortable and laid back time of year before the hustle and bustle of the joyous holidays are upon us.

I’m sure there are many people sad to see summer ending soon, but I look forward to this festive season. As much as I will miss my beautiful warm weather flowers, I am happily anticipating planting my traditional mums.

Barbecue grills will eventually be covered up , replaced by ovens and stoves. It will soon be time to get my pots and pans out of storage! I have more incentive to cook in the colder weather and sometimes I let the crock pot cook for me…my latest helper!

Hope everyone had a great summer and enjoys what is left! Soon it will be time to pack up your swimwear and beach gear, switch over to jackets, sweaters and boots! I know that I am in the minority, so I can only speak for myself when I say “I’m ready”!
