90th Annual Easter Promenade Sees Huge Success

The South Street Headhouse District’s 90th Annual Easter Promenade took place on Sunday, April 9, 2023, and was a huge success! As Philadelphia’s go-to spot for all things Easter, South Street offered a variety of free, family-friendly spring activities, including the 3rd Annual South Street Egg Hunt, photo-ops with the Easter Bunny, and the Easter Promenade’s Best Dressed Contest. Participants dressed in their Sunday best and were treated to an amazing afternoon of Easter fun!

For the past 90 years, the Easter Promenade has been a staple in Philadelphia and a tradition for many families. The Promenade is one of the longest-running traditions in the city of Philadelphia. The 90th anniversary was a wonderful opportunity for family and friends to celebrate old traditions and for some, create new ones on South Street.

The Promenade began at 5th & South Streets and ended at the Headhouse Plaza on 2nd & Lombard Street, where the Best Dressed Contest took place. Dozens of children, families, and pets entered the contest in hopes of winning prizes. The contestants of the Easter Promenade’s best-dressed contest were judged by founders of Philly Fashion Week Kevin Parker and Kerry Scott, TV Host & Entertainment Contributor Jen Su, and Fox 29 reporter Ellen Kolodziej.

This year, Fox 29 was a media partner and Alex Holley and her grandfather continued their tradition and promenaded down South Street. Senator Nikil Saval, Councilmember Mark Squilla, and State Representative Mary Isaacson also joined in on the Easter fun. Drag Queen, Brittany Lynn was a partner with her brand Drag Queen Story Time. Herself and Fox 29 meteorologist Drew Anderson entertained guests as the hosts for the 90th Annual Easter Promenade! Frankford Candy was the official candy sponsor of the promenade and provided all Best Dresses Contestants with delicious Easter candy. Fan favorites including Grand Marshal Henri David, Philadelphia Union’s Phang, and the Easter Bunny joined in on the festivities. 

This year’s Easter Promenade was surely one for the books! The South Street Headhouse District offers a unique array of shopping, bars, restaurants, and entertainment that make for a fun and exciting experience for all who visit. The countdown to the 91st Easter Promenade is on!
