WXPN to Host Annual NON-COMMvention May 7th to 9th

Public radio programmers and music industry representatives from across the U.S. will gather in Philadelphia from May 7-10 for the annual NON-COMMvention conference. “NON-COMM” will be hosted by Philadelphia public radio station WXPN, with events taking place there and at World Cafe Live, the live music venue with which WXPN shares a building.

Attendees representing non-commercial music radio stations, many of which are college or community-licensed, will meet during daytime sessions to share insights, trends, opportunities and challenges. Exciting noontime and evening musical showcases will expose industry attendees to the very best in new music from emerging and established artists (see list).

Because public music radio stations are widely recognized as influential and important guides to what’s new and notable in music, record labels and management companies vie each year for the opportunity to showcase their talent at NON-COMM in front of attending music programmers. NON-COMM has showcased a plethora of emerging talent over its 20+ years, giving many artists their first major exposure.

A limited number of passes to the NON-COMM music showcases are made available to WXPN members. The conference’s three evening music showcases and three XPN Free At Noon concerts will be broadcast by WXPN 88.5 and livestreamed at xpn.org and NPR Live Sessions.
