Philadelphia-based Evil Genius Beer Company is hosting their first ever 4/20 themed block party and celebrating the classic stoner holiday with a Pineapple Express themed brew dubbed The Apex of The Vortex of Joint Engineering, a Hazy IPA aptly brewed with Pineapple. The new beer will be released on Friday, April 19th in 32oz Crowler cans and stock is hyper limited with only 100 units available. On Saturday, April 20th, Evil Genius presents the Evil Genius 4/20 Block Party from 12:00pm to 6:00pm on the 1700 block of N. Front St. in Fishtown, outside of their taproom (1727 N. Front St). There is no charge to attend the event, with food and drink pay as you go. The block party is pet and family friendly, and open to the public.
For 4/20 weekend this year, Philadelphia-based brewer’s are leaning into a 4/20 theme inspired by the nostalgic, stoner-comedies of the 90’s and early 2000’s like Harold & Kumar, Dude, Where’s My Car?, and, of course, Pineapple Express.
“We all remember the late nights hanging out on the couch with our friends watching these hilarious movies,” said Evil Genius Beer Co. Co-Founder Trevor Hayward. “We set out to create a beer that invokes the same feeling and pay homage to these awesome, cult-classic films.”
On Friday, April 19th, Evil Genius will be debuting their brand new brew The Apex of The Vortex of Joint Engineering. This Hazy IPA was brewed with tons of oats for a super fluffy base before being dosed with Simcoe hops and pineapple juice resulting in a perfectly fruity and dank flavor profile. The beer is available solely in 32oz Crowler cans and stock is hyper limited with only 100 units available. Guests can expect the crowlers to be priced at about $13.25 each.
On Saturday, April 20th, from 12:00pm to 6:00pm, Evil Genius 4/20 Block Party will boast tons of happenings for attendees for the day celebration. Guests can enjoy live music from the funky No Man’s Band who will kick off their set at 2:00pm and dine at the on-theme Munchy Machine food truck. Guests can also shop at a variety of local vendors including Toast that offers aesthetically pleasing smokeware and other accessories. Jess from New Habit Store will be offering natural, homemade candles. Local plant and home goods shop, Greenly Plant Co, will be in attendance as well as local glassblower Moka Melts. Guests can also spice things up with hand crafted hot sauces from Good Land Food Company or relax with wellness routines from Reset by Therabody. Finally, Lily Lough Jewelry will be offering handmade accessories and Shop Later Dudes will be there with a selection of curated vintage clothing for sale.
For those that want to keep the weekend going, Evil Genius will present Queen Bee Vs. RiRi: Beyonce & Rihanna Drag Brunch, on Sunday, April 21st, from 11:00am to 2:00pm. In honor of Beyonce’s new album we’re pitting the Beyhive and Sashay Fierce (get it?) against Rihanna and her rude boys! Doors open at 11:00 AM and the show starts at 12:00pm.
