Today, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) shares its exciting lineup of events and activities at its two PHS Pop Up Gardens in Manayunk and on South Street for the Summer season. These stunning spaces offer beautiful plantings, refreshing summer cocktails, and delicious food fare. Both gardens have recently undergone planting changeouts for the summertime to create a tropical, island vibe within the gardens. Guests are invited to visit these breathtaking gardens and be transported to a tropical oasis.

Both gardens offer a line of frozen cocktails this summer, including a delicious purple-hued frozen mojito, among an extensive menu of delicious cocktails, draft beers, canned beers, wine, and non-alcoholic sips. Popular cocktails ‘The Woodermelon’ and ‘Gritty Marg’ will return this year, along with new specialty drinks including the Chief Boba, made with Bacardi black rum, Bacardi Superior rum, passion fruit, and boba pop.

June at the Pop Up Gardens is packed with events, including a free live music performance by instrumental rock band, I Think Like Midnight on June 25 at the PHS Manayunk Pop Up Garden. For those looking to develop their green thumb, both gardens will host a terrarium making workshop, where attendees can create and take home their very own mini-garden ecosystem.

Then in July, join us for a lively Male Burlesque and Drag Show featuring Brittany Lynn at the Manayunk Pop Up Garden. Or, at The South Street Pop Up Garden, stop by on July 18 for a free Garden Party and concert featuring ARKAI, an award-winning electro-acoustic duo that has inspired audiences around the world. This event will be co-hosted by Astral, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit that specializes in developing the early careers of extraordinary classical musicians.

Both gardens will also hold free Plant Swap events in July, where attendees can bring a plant or gardening tool they no longer need, and trade it for something new, while learning new gardening knowledge through this fun, social activity. Both gardens will also host a Pressed Flower Workshop in July, where guests can learn about the age-old art of pressing and preserving flowers. Additionally, for budding horticulturists or anyone looking to learn more about waterwise gardening, the Pop Up Gardens will be hosting a presentation all about rock gardening and drought tolerant gardening practices on July 24 at Manayunk and July 25 at South Street.

With so many exciting events on the horizon, the PHS Pop Up Gardens are sure to make a great summer hangout spot offering the perfect event or workshop for every interest. A full listing of upcoming events, and links to register if applicable, is included below.
