Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated return of its celebrated Kidchella Music Festival, set to take place in person on the stunning 6 ½ acre Playground. Get ready to mark your calendars for a string of unforgettable Fridays as we bring you the festival on June 23rd, July 21st, and August 18th.
Don’t forget to bring a blanket or lawn chair and soak up the live music experience, starting with mini pre-show performances, activities, snacks, giveaways, and delicious food truck options at 4pm. The real magic kicks off with the main concert from 5:30-7:00 pm, featuring sensational local and nationally acclaimed children’s music artists.
June’s concert is FREE, courtesy of Wawa Welcome America. Tickets for July and August performances will be available for $12 per person (adults and children of walking age) or $6 for Smith members and PA ACCESS cardholders. Friday, July 21: ILL Doots + Kendrah Butler-Waters
ILL DOOTS is a talented musical collective known for their genre-defying music and high-energy live performances. Their name, which stands for “I Love Living & I Love Learning,” reflects their passion for using personal experiences of curiosity and learning to create transformative art. An accomplished pianist, violinist, vocalist, composer, and educator, Kendrah Butler-Waters, blends jazz, classical, and gospel music to create a melodious and enchanting experience families are sure to enjoy. Friday, August 18: City Love + Jams For Junior Jawns
City Love is a West Philly-based social justice music and education group that uses songs to spread love, hope, dialogue, justice, and healing. Jams for Junior Jawns is a family-friendly musical experience. This group of teachers and musicians is all about getting the party started with original tunes and classic favorites that everyone will love, no matter their age!
