Latchkey, East Passyunk Avenue’s one-stop-shop for vinyl, vintage, and vibes, is collaborating with The 8th House, the radical metaphysical shop for ethical witchy vibes and indie goods, to hold the inaugural Grown Ass Book Fair on Saturday, May 27 from 12 – 4pm. Attendees to the Grown Ass Book Fair will have the opportunity to relive the magic of the middle school book fair at Latchkey with a host of thematic goods available for purchase including books, zines, stickers, VHS tapes, friendship bracelets, and more.
The Grown Ass Book Fair will see the debut of Latchkey’s graphic novel collection, bringing comics back to East Passyunk Avenue for the first time in years. Graphic novels sold at Latchkey will also be 20% off cover price.
Additionally, the ’90s and early 2000s-inspired book fair will feature fun throwback activities as well. Attendees can glimpse their future through the past via tarot card readings with a 90’s twist or fuel up for more fun by digging into someadult “Lunchables.” Customers dressed for the occasion will receive 10% off their Grown Ass Book Fair purchases; butterfly clips and jellies are encouraged. The best of the “middle school”-dressed may walk away with a free Tamagotchi virtual pet for their efforts (while supplies last). To make lasting memories, Polaroid photos will be available for $3 and can be taken in front of Latchkey’s “Teen Hearthrob” wall, a collage favorite faces from back in the day.
Latchkey helps make a physical connection to the music, the movies, the cartoons, the video games, and everything else related to the ‘80s and ‘90s. Latchkey is located at 1502 E Passyunk Avenue. For more information, visit https://shoplatchkey.com or follow on Instagram at @shoplatchkey.
