On Saturday, May, 6, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., the South Street Headhouse District will host their annual South Street Fest. Enjoy international food & drinks, handmade crafts, and eclectic vendors that you know and love, plus several city blocks filled with new experiences and festivities to enjoy including Brauhaus Schmitz’s 10th Annual Maifest, Free Comic Book Day at Atomic City Comics, and South Street Fest’s Artist Row.

This family-friendly festival spans South Street from 2nd to 8th Streets. The east entry point is at the Headhouse Plaza and the west entry point is at 800 South Street. It is perfect for all ages and a great way to support local businesses. This year’s Kids Zone will feature an interactive inflatable from the Philadelphia Union, plus giant chess and giant Connect 4 from Queen & Rook Game Cafe.

Local restaurants including Puyero Venezuelan Flavor, Bistro Romano, and Bridget Foy’s will be serving cuisines from around the world. Iconic South Street businesses like Repo Records, Garland of Letters, and Eye’s Gallery will be joining the festival fun alongside newer businesses, such as B-Bop Vintage, Black and Nobel, G-Strength, and Sam Shaw’s Treatery!

New to the festival this year is the launch of South Street Fest’s Artist Row. It will be curated by Crown of Creation, Queen & Rook Game Cafe, and the South Street Art Mart. With the help of generous sponsorship, Artist Row will feature 20+ new and emerging artists and artisans with a focus on women and BIPOC creators who may not otherwise have the opportunity to bring their craft to the next level.

At the east end of the festival, throw on your fascinator hat and head over to The Twisted Tail and Paddy Whacks Pub, where you can sip on mint juleps while enjoying a 20 ft TV truck in the middle of the street! They’ll be broadcasting the Kentucky Derby, as well as other sports games all day long! At the west end of the festival is Brauhaus Schmitz’s Maifest which brings German vibes to South Street with delicious biers, brats, and dancing around the Maipole.

On the 600 Block of South Street, The Dream Eerie and Atomic City Comics are partnering together for a Free Comic Book Day celebration, including a costume contest, trivia, prizes, and a DJ. This will also be the Grand Opening of The Dream Eerie.
