The Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation is hosting its 15th Annual New Coat Program this fall. A record 58,239 brand-new winter coats will be distributed through the one-of-a-kind effort to needy children who reside in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties. The Foundation has been organizing this community-wide initiative since 2008 and approximately 575,000 brand-new winter coats, which is equivalent to $8.9 million in new coats, have been distributed to local families as a result.

“This is our fifteenth year of fundraising and giving,” said Kevin Mazzucola, executive director of the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation. “It’s also our fifteenth year of experiencing pure joy when a kid gets to pick their very favorite color coat and keep it; of working with some of the best community partners around to give families in need one less thing to worry about; and most importantly, of our dealers leading an effort that pulls an entire community together for the greater good.”

Approximately 180 local auto dealers located throughout the five-county region of Greater Philadelphia are teaming up for this year’s New Coat Program. With one in six Philadelphia-area children living in poverty and increasing concerns about inflation amongst families, the need for this essential item is at an all-time high. A new winter coat remains one of the most requested items via local social services agencies. All the new coats generated through this program are distributed through a network of more than 350 nearby social services agencies, YMCAs, homeless shelters, school districts and more. This distribution process ensures that the coats get onto the backs of the children who need them most.

“Our participating dealers remain as passionate about this cause today as they were in year one, which was back in 2008,” added Mazzucola. “It’s that passion that keeps this program going and even growing.”
