Id Circo Theatre Group, a new Philadelphia-based performing arts collective, will have its inaugural production this September with Nick Payne’s CONSTELLATIONS. Performances will take place at The Cabaret at the Adrienne (140 N. Columbus Boulevard, Philadelphia) on September 16 and 17, 2022. This intimate play, which explores life’s infinite unique outcomes through an unforgettable relationship, will be part of the 2022 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Press is invited to attend the opening performance, September 16 at 7 p.m.
Director and Id Circo founder, Nora Gair, expressed her excitement about participating in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. “Creating work under the Fringe umbrella with so many other wonderful artists cements the feeling of community that the Philly theatre scene is known for, and I’m excited to be joining this year,” Gair said. “The Fringe is unique in the community of artists it attracts and supports, and it exemplifies the kind of excitement Philly audiences have for daring and innovative work.”
One relationship, every universe. CONSTELLATIONS, a smart and stellar two-hander by playwright Nick Payne, explores life’s infinitely unique outcomes and the endless possibilities that could have been. Marianne, a theoretical physicist, and Roland, a beekeeper, meet via chance encounter at a party. They soon date, then break up – at least in this timeline. In another, they marry – or they go their separate ways as friends. Every choice and event that could occur in their relationship will take place in a parallel universe. As illness, infidelity, and identity crises thread themselves in and out of Roland and Marianne’s different lives, CONSTELLATIONS weaves a love story that stretches across the multiverse.
Id Circo’s cast will feature Xavier McKinnon and Seraina Schottland as Roland and Marianne, respectively. McKinnon has been seen across the country in regional theatres and on national tours. His work on tours includes roles like Benny in Rent and Prince Abdullah in Disney’s Aladdin. Schottland is a Philadelphia-based actor, singer, songwriter, and teaching artist. She has performed in multiple cities across the United States and internationally. Her work includes roles such as Suzanne in Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Kathryn Schaub in Radium Girls, and more.
