The Philly POPS is proud to once again partner with Comcast NBCUniversal for the annual Christmas in July celebration on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the Comcast Center Plaza (1701 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, Philadelphia).
Christmas in July will feature plenty of holiday fun for the whole family! At the event, The Philly POPS and Comcast NBCUniversal will gift 150 bicycles and helmets to children of local first responders or affiliated children in need including members of the military and the Philadelphia Police and Fire Departments. Christmas in July is part of the POPS’ Salute Series – events held in connection with American civic holidays that honor the very American tradition of service. The POPS is also partnering with John Nistad of National HR and Milay Galvez of Advanced Sports to continue this yearly tradition.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Comcast NBCUniversal for our Salute Series,” said Karen Corbin, Chief Operating Officer of The Philly POPS. “It is an honor to highlight our dedication to the service community at Christmas in July. We also look forward to a fun celebration announcing the return of Philadelphia’s favorite holiday past time, A Philly POPS Christmas.”
Christmas in July coincides with the on-sale date for tickets for A Philly POPS Christmas: Spectacular Sounds of the Season. The POPS’ popular Christmas concert series will grace the stage of the Kimmel Cultural Campus’ Verizon Hall from December 3 – December 17, 2022.
The series kicks off with the December 2nd I’ll Be Home for Christmas: A Salute to the Military and First Responders, an invitation-only concert that provides free tickets to the families of military, veterans, police officers and firefighters, honoring their commitment to service and our nation’s traditions and values.
With A Philly POPS Christmas: Spectacular Sounds of the Season, Music Director and Principal Conductor David Charles Abell presents a dazzling, unique, and all-new program with over 300 performers, including The Philly POPS Festival Chorus, The Philadelphia Boys Choir, the African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas Gospel Choir, and Santa!
This year’s concert series will feature two very special guests, Hamilton star Mandy Gonzalez, returning for her fourth Christmas with the POPS, along with Broadway sensation and small-screen heartthrob Jordan Donica recently cast as Lancelot in an upcoming Broadway update of Camelot.
Called by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda “one of the greatest singers on earth,” Mandy Gonzalez possesses one of the most powerful and versatile contemporary voices of our time. She is currently starring in the hit Broadway musical Hamilton. She is best known for originating the role of Nina Rosario in the Tony® Award-winning Broadway musical In the Heights.
Jordan Donica most recently starred as Jordan Chase in the CW’s Charmed. Jordan also originated the role of Freddy Eynsford-Hill in the 2018 Tony-nominated Lincoln Center Theater production of My Fair Lady. Jordan made his Broadway debut starring as the lead, Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny, in the historic Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera.
