A delicious meal at The Fern & Fable helps feed the whole community with culture. Together with The Farmhouse at People’s Light, a premiere wedding and event venue, The Fern & Fable is a for-profit subsidiary of People’s Light, a professional non-profit theatre now in it’s 47th season and known for its wide array of productions, education and community-connected programs. Nestled on 7 acres in the heart of Chester County, this expansive, multi-use campus provides a bustling center for locals and visitors to enjoy world-class entertainment, down-to-earth eats that support the arts, and good company.

Comfort, quality, and artistry are top of mind at The Fern & Fable, from the warm and friendly atmosphere to the hearty cuisine. Diners will feel nostalgic for Grandma’s Sunday dinners when they taste Executive Chef Scott Burns’ homestyle scratch cooking. The short ribs are undoubtedly a star of the menu (their delectable aroma wafts all the way out to Route 401!) alongside equally enticing vegan and gluten-free options. The restaurant has partnered with local standout Sweet Jazmines on select dessert items like their signature sweet potato cake.

The newly renovated restaurant occupies three rooms of a 1700s farmhouse, complete with two working fireplaces and surrounded by perennial gardens. The walls are adorned with a cheeky mix of theatrical ephemera from the People’s Light archives. Recent additions to the space include a stunning, handcrafted wall of glass and metal, and other glass features designed by renowned artist Hank Murta Adams. Adams also designed the bespoke bar shared by The Fern & Fable and The Farmhouse at People’s Light, located in the venue’s contemporary indoor pavilion. Familiarity walks hand in hand with the unexpected; old and new blend to form a timeless ambience that is comfortable and welcoming.

The Fern & Fable will be open for dinner Thursdays, 4pm-9pm, and Friday through Sunday from 4pm-8pm until February 16. After February 16, it will also be open Wednesday nights from 4 pm-8pm.

A popular live music series featuring local musicians is held on Thursday night from 6-8:30pm.

The restaurant hours are occasionally altered or limited due to the People’s Light production calendar or private events: reservations to The Fern & Fable are highly encouraged. OpenTable is the best way to find out availability. Guests may also contact the restaurant by calling 610.647.1631 x158. More information at thefernandfable.com.
