The Wilma Theater in Philadelphia is pleased to announce their exciting site-specific production of Will Arbery’s HEROES OF THE FOURTH TURNING, produced safely in a quarantine bubble. Arbery’s award-winning play, directed by Blanka Zizka, was captured in a secluded home in the Poconos region of Pennsylvania.  This regional premiere will be available for audiences via the Wilma Theater website on any device for two weeks, December 1-20, 2020, at https://wilmatheater.org/heroes-of-the-fourth-turning/. Tickets are on sale now.

HEROES…tells the story of four Catholic conservative friends gathering at a late-night backyard party in Wyoming, shortly before the 2017 eclipse. As they wait for the arrival of their mentor, and newly appointed college president, secret passions and fears surface, revealing their troubled place in a divided country. The celebrated work was the winner of the 2020 Obie Award for Playwriting, Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play, and named “Best of the Year” by The New York Times. It was also a finalist for the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

In the spirit of the Wilma’s commitment to groundbreaking theater, the company honored the spirit of Arbery’s play by capturing the production in a safe, site-specific setting. HotHouse company members Sarah Gliko, Justin Jain, Jered McLenigan, and Campbell O’Hare are joined by award-winning performer Mary Elizabeth Scallen. The entire artistic team self-quarantined for two weeks before the start of the production process, and traveled to an Airbnb house located in the Poconos. There, the team rehearsed and captured the professional production while in quarantine with each other.

The full artistic and creative team is listed below. Tickets are available by visiting wilmatheater.org. Subscribers who purchased a WilmaPass are able to redeem tickets from their package to access the production.

Tickets are $37 with discounts available for seniors, students, educators, artists and theater workers, and WilmaPass holders.
