Philadelphia’s premier contemporary ballet company recently opened their Fall Series, at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre. If you have yet to see this electric, unique ballet company, get tickets before this performance ends on November 17th.
Audiences will be wowed by three acts.
Mapping Out a Sky, choreographed by Matthew Neenan, is a return performance featuring the music of Stephen Sondheim.
Big Wig, a new work by choreographer Marguerite Donlon, was inspired by the Irish dancing she did in Ireland when she was younger and features music by Irish artists.
Heroes, by choreographer Takehiro Ueyama, highlights dance and music of his Japanese heritage.
BalletX shows audiences how thrilling ballet can be by taking what you already have experienced and turning the art form into something that thinks outside of the box. Classical and traditional elements are still on stage, but mixed with exciting chaos, modern music, and dance moves that will have you immediately adding another show to your calendar.
BalletX returns next month, this time in an intimate Gothic Revival setting at Goodhart Hall, Bryn Mawr College. The series, which will take place Dec. 13-15, features the return of the summer crowd favorite, Macaroni, by Loughlan Prior, plus a world premiere from award-winning dancer, choreographer, and BalletX Rehearsal Director & Community Liaison Keelan Whitmore. In addition, the company will showcase new works choreographed by the BalletX Dancers themselves. Details here.
