Center City District (CCD) will welcome the return of winter events and attractions in Dilworth Park when the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink and Cabin, the Wintergarden and the Made in Philadelphia Holiday Market open for the season on Friday, November 15.
In celebration of Rothman Orthopaedics’ renewed support of the ice rink, a new public art piece will debut overhead. Designed by Lucky Dog Studio, the installation will feature rows of reflective icicles fabricated from mirrored materials. Special lighting will also change colors during special events and citywide happenings, including Eagles games.
The Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink will be open daily with $7 admission for children 10 and under, $9 admission for adults and skate rental for $10 per person. Discounts are available for groups of 10 more. Tickets for timed 90-minute skate sessions and locker rentals are available at centercityphila.org/rinktickets. Find daily hours of operation and event details at dilworthpark.org.
The Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin provides a cozy space with a full menu of seasonal dishes and, for adults 21 and older, cocktails made with Jim Beam Black® and Hornitos® Tequila, plus beer including favorites from Broad Street Brewing. Outside on the terrace, toasty fire pits are available to enjoy at no charge.
At the southern end of the park, the Wintergarden on the Greenfield Lawn returns with hundreds of twinkling lights woven through woodland décor, including an overhead arbor, decorated reindeer topiaries and seasonal foliage. A Chaddsford Winery kiosk located within the Wintergarden will offer warm mulled wine to guests 21 and over.
The Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink and Cabin will be open daily through February 23, and the Wintergarden will be open through March 9.
The Made in Philadelphia Holiday Market, open daily through January 1, will feature a diverse selection of products from more than 40 vendors from the Philadelphia region. Shoppers can expect everything from home goods and jewelry to skincare, artwork and artisanal treats. The full list of vendors can be found at dilworthpark.org.
“Each year we reopen is a reminder of just how important this tradition is to our community as well as our late founder, Dr. Richard H. Rothman,” said Alexander R. Vaccaro, MD, PhD, MBA, President of Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, Richard H. Rothman Professor and Chairman, and Professor of Neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University and Hospitals. “We’re thrilled to continue to support this community initiative and look forward to another exciting season at the Rothman Rink and Cabin.”
