Laugh before you head to the polls!

Election or not, there’s so much to worry about, so much uncertainty and so much in the world that is just not “brat” (if you know, you know). Theatre is always a great escape and Philly’s 1812 Productions, the ONLY all-comedy producing theatre in America, is here to help you smile for a couple hours.

The theatre’s annual tradition of presenting a variety show (think SNL, The Daily Show) comes at us early this year with the Election Special. Pulling from the latest news surrounding the upcoming Presidental Election, the This Is The Week That Is team is ready to go with musical numbers, a bit of improvisation, Weekend Update style segments, and sketches to keep you shaking your head at the headlines coming at us at rapid speed.

The cast consists of Jennifer Childs (also the show’s assistant director and the Co-Founder/Producing Artistic Director of 1812), Sean Close, Pax Ressler (also the show’s music director and arranger), Lexi Thammavong, Robyn Unger, and brand new to the cast this year is Newton Buchanan. Every one of them not just performs, but also is credited as writing the show. This Is The Week That Is is something special you won’t see at any other theatre in Philadelphia. These performers manage to keep you laughing for two acts and then close out the night with a sweet song, sending you home feeling warm and hopeful.
