If you haven’t seen any Philadelphia Fringe Festival shows yet, shuffle your weekend plans and get over to the Wilma Theatre to catch one of the final performances of Dito van Reigersberg’s Poor Judge. It ends tomorrow, September 22nd, and tickets are here.
This original show features the songs of Aimee Mann and tells the story of a break up, a move to Los Angeles, and the ups and downs of breaking into the entertainment industry. Ten songs are performed live on stage, acoustically, along with dance, movement, and visuals to create a unique cabaret experience that’s also a love letter to Mann’s lyrics. If you ever felt out of place or even ready to start fresh, this production is for you.
Poor Judge is presented by by Pig Iron Theatre Company, created by Dito van Reigersberg, directed by Eva Steinmetz with music direction and arrangements by Alex Bechtel. The cast includes Emily Bate, Josh Machiz, izzy sazak, Jackie Soro, Justin Yoder, Alex Bechtel, and Dito van Reigersberg…all appearing as Aimee Mann.
There’s one more show this evening, and two tomorrow. But if we’re lucky, Poor Judge will continue on outside of the Fringe Festival.
