In honor of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, Fireman’s Hall Museum (147 N 2nd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106) is hosting a special opportunity for visitors to hear from retired Philadelphia Police Sgt. Greg Masi on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 12 to 1 p.m.
On September 11, 2001, Masi was working in Philadelphia’s 911 Emergency Operations Center when the Twin Towers were hit. Under the direction of the late Police Commissioner John Timoney, Masi and a small team were dispatched to Ground Zero to assist the NYPD. Sgt. Masi will be on-site at Fireman’s Hall to share his personal account of 9/11, engage with visitors, and answer any questions they may have.
Fireman’s Hall is home to the nation’s first exhibit commemorating the brave firefighters who died on September 11, 2001. The museum’s hauntingly beautiful display showcases leftover residue and panels from a destroyed NYFD fire engine, the names and pictures of each fallen firefighter, and a stone from the damaged portion of the Pentagon. The museum is also one of only a few to exhibit dirt from Shanksville, PA, where United Airlines Flight 93 crashed.
More info on the museum can be found here.
