Peddler’s Village Kicks Off “Scarecrow Season” with Multiple Events

Peddler’s Village, a countryside shopping, dining, lodging, and entertainment destination in the heart of historic Bucks County, PA, is poised to launch its annual “Scarecrow Season” with three main events: Scarecrows in the Village, a display of more than 100 handmade creations; a Scarecrow Festival on September 14 and 15; and scarecrow-making workshops that begin during the festival and continue on September 21 and September 28.

Other events taking place in September at Peddler’s Village include a free pet photography exhibit, an Autumn Wedding Show, a free outdoor movie, a murder mystery dinner show, a Food Truck Thursday, a meeting of the Peddler’s Village Book Club, and a terrarium-making workshop. Every day, visitors can explore 60 specialty shops and boutiques, enjoy dining experiences at restaurants and eateries, visit the indoor family entertainment center known as Giggleberry Fair, and stroll on winding paths through seasonal landscaping. Guests can also stay overnight at the on-site Golden Plough Inn, a charming hotel with more than 60 rooms, many of which have recently been renovated.

Recognized as one of the most popular annual events in the Philadelphia region, the free Scarecrows in the Village competition and display showcases dozens of scarecrows created by Philly-area residents, organizations, and Village shops. All members of the public are invited to participate. Registration for the competition, which awards cash prizes up to $300, is open through September 2. Beginning September 9, guests can cast their vote for their favorite scarecrows via the Peddler’s Village mobile app or by picking up a paper ballot at the Visitor and Event Center. Voting ends October 14.

On Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15, Peddler’s Village will host its Scarecrow Festival, an autumn weekend featuring scarecrow workshops, live music, pumpkin painting, activities, and outdoor food and drinks. Pre-registration for the scarecrow workshops is strongly encouraged as walk-in opportunities will be limited. Workshops include a designated space, materials, and step-by-step instructions to create a life-size scarecrow to take home. Guests unable to attend the Scarecrow Festival can also register for workshops on September 21 and 28.

Other events during Scarecrow Season include a Pet Photography Competition & Exhibit from September 2 through October 13, a Food Truck Thursday on Thursdays, September 19 and October 3, a popular interactive murder mystery dinner theater show, “I Love the 80s to Death,” on September 27, and a free outdoor screening  of The Wizard of Oz on September 13. Couples interested in learning more about weddings at Peddler’s Village can register for the free Autumn Wedding Show on Sunday, September 8. Guests can sample complimentary hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and desserts, tour banquet and lodging spaces, view wedding fashions, and meet the Peddler’s Village event planning team and preferred vendors.

In October, fall celebrations will continue with the annual OctoberFeast weekend on October 12 and 13, a pumpkin-carving contest from October 21 through 27 (deadline to enter is October 16), two Halloween parties—the Slightly Batty Halloween Wing-Ding for kids on October 26 and the Deadly Silent Disco Party for adults on October 25—and a free trick-or-treating event for kids on October 27. The annual Peddler’s Village Apple Festival will take place on November 2 and 3.
