Chef Jennifer Carroll, acclaimed Top Chef All Star, Phil-ebrity, and founder of Carroll Couture Cuisine, is pleased to announce the latest venture in her series of popular Food Experiences: The Fishtown Food Journey. A recent tour was held last week and the next one will take place on Saturday, August 3rd at 12 pm. Carroll will guide attendees through a selection of Fishtown and Kensington’s top-tier eateries including Cake Life Bake Shop, the award-winning bakery (known for baking Beyonce’s birthday cake twice!), as well as Pizzeria Beddia, Liberty Kitchen, and some surprise stops along the way.

Tickets ($136/pp) for the July Fishtown Food Journey are available now through her Shop, and all of Carroll’s future Culinary Walking Tours will be available via a link in her email newsletter – sign up to receive the newsletter here.

Guided by Chef Jen, tour attendees will walk, explore, and take in the sites, all while listening and asking questions as Carroll delivers her personal take on the history, art, food and people of Philadelphia and the Fishtown/Kensington area. Guests will learn about the history of the Philadelphia food scene and local businesses including Cake Life Bake Shop – the trans- and woman-owned bakery and café delivering sweet treats and a welcoming atmosphere to Frankford Avenue since 2013 – Plus, insider knowledge on Philly-famous murals in the region (think: the large mural adorning Cake Life’s east-facing exterior wall).

“As a chef and huge cheerleader of Philadelphia’s culinary scene it made so much sense for me to host walking food journeys in my own neighborhoods of Fishtown and East Kensington. The neighborhoods have exploded over the past few years with some of the best and most diverse culinary offerings that Philly has,” said Carroll. “I realized how many people have never even been to Fishtown or East Kensington and I wanted to do more than just talk about some of my favorite places to go to eat. My symbiotic relationships with the owners, chefs, managers, and teams gives me a foot in the door that other food tours do not have, and really makes the experiences I host one-of-a-kind.”

Bites along the way will include Chef Jen’s favorite treats found at Cake Life Bake Shop, such as the Campfire Cocoa Cupcake and Pistachio-Petal Cookie; Ed’s Special Italian Hoagie at Liberty Kitchen; and the tomato, whole milk mozzarella, and Galen’s Reserve pizza at Pizzeria Beddia — plus a surprise bonus stop (or two)!

Here’s what guests need to know: The journey will be a half-mile of walking, and each ticket comes with complimentary goodies: a tote bag filled with Liquid Death Water, Berbere Side Project Jerky, and other famous Philly snacks.
