Astral Artists and Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) are pleased to co-present Astral Mixtape in performance on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 1 pm. This free outdoor concert will take place at the PHS Pop Up Garden in Manayunk, Philadelphia – where families, children, and dogs on a leash are also welcome. Astral Mixtape continually reimagines the definitions and connotations of a ‘classical’ concert. The group is a multifaceted band of LA-based musicians who blend classical instrumental virtuosity with the sounds of their generation. PHS Pop Up Gardens create blooming gardens where there was once vacant, underutilized land; transforming them into lush, green spaces serving inventive cocktails, bites, and brews.
Astral Mixtape collaboratively creates and performs original compositions and arrangements using a unique line-up of two violins, cello, piano, synthesizer, and electronics. Their music combines the spectacle of pop, the spontaneity of jazz, and the experimentation of contemporary music. They enjoy sharing their music in a wide array of venues, including theaters, clubs, wine bars, parks, meditation centers, and more.
PHS Pop Up Gardens strives to use horticulture to improve the health and well-being of the Philadelphia region. Once underutilized, vacant spaces, PHS’s unique cocktail gardens are lovingly transformed each year by PHS to bring fresh, delicious food and drink to people while using the space to grow fresh produce for donation and create a space that is beneficial to the local ecosystem. Proceeds from sales help PHS create healthy living environments, increase access to fresh food, expand economic opportunity, and build meaningful social connections using gardening.
