Philadelphia Zoo is hosting its Zoo-A-Thon fundraiser Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6. During this two-day fundraising event, the Zoo will be holding additional wildlife chats, animal feedings and enrichment sessions for guests to learn about the Zoo’s multifaceted animal care program and how their donations can make a difference. For 48 hours, the Zoo will be accepting donations online, onsite and through texts, with special incentives for donors at all gift levels. To celebrate, the Zoo is hosting a party for its giant river otters, featuring a hand-crafted ice cake filled with fish, to demonstrate the importance of animal enrichment and nutrition.

“As an Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) accredited institution, animal care and well-being are at the forefront of everything we do,” says Vice President of Animal Well-Being Rachel Metz. “Each and every day, our animal care team provides individualized care to our 1,900 animals. This includes scientifically formulated diets, targeted and preventative onsite veterinary care, and daily behavioral enrichment to exercise the animals’ bodies and minds.”

“Zoo-A-Thon offers a chance for our supporters to see where their gifts are going,” says Chief Development Officer Neil Batiancila. “We want our community to visit some of the additionally scheduled wildlife chats, feedings and enrichment sessions and understand the full breadth of animal care at the Zoo. The impactful work of Philadelphia Zoo is not possible without the support of our donors. All gifts make a world of difference.”
