The start of the New Year is the best time to prioritize mental health, and Kids At Play recognizes that children’s mental health is of utmost importance. Now that Kids At Play is moved into their brand new location in Roxborough, they are currently launching their Mental Health Program, which provides an amazing resource for Philadelphia families to learn, play, and grow together.
Kids At Play – 7201 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19129 – is an indoor therapy playground that serves as an incredible space for Open Play and children’s birthday parties, but also as a one-stop shop for different therapies specially designed for kids. Their new Roxborough location, which opened in 2023, is equipped with therapy rooms and tools for the most effective therapy approach. In addition to their new Mental Health Therapy program, Kids At Play offers:
- Occupational Therapy
- Physical Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Therapy
“It has been a longtime dream of ours to launch our Mental Health program here at Kids at Play. For so long we have focused on our other therapies, but Mental Health is such an important aspect of a child’s development,” says Julia Bookbinder, Director of Operations at Kids At Play.”
The mental health program is an outpatient program staffed by licensed mental health professionals focusing on kids ages 0-13. Kids at Play accepts many insurance plans including Medicaid, and therapy sessions can range from weekly, to bi-weekly, to monthly depending on the specific needs of each child. Using talk and play therapy tools, the staff can help support the children and their families to develop and strengthen their social, emotional, and behavioral needs to not only cope but thrive in all aspects of life.
In the years following the COVID-19 pandemic, the mental health crisis especially surrounding kids has skyrocketed, which is why Kids At Play knew they needed to provide accessible Mental Health Therapy to local families. To get started with the program, parents can call Kids At Play at
610-628-0005 or email them at Therapy@KidsAtPlayPA.com.
“We hope that Kids at Play can serve not only as a fun play space for the community but also as a hub of therapeutic growth and nourishment,” says Julia Bookbinder, Director of Operations at Kids At Play.
