Ready for the game? Here are some unique food ideas from local Philly restaurants!
The Eagles Churros ($7) at El Merkury, the Central American eatery best known for its traditional street food and stunning churros, are sweet sensations fitted in the team’s iconic Kelly-green colorway and are available for pick-up at both Reading Terminal Market and El Merkury’s Rittenhouse-area Flagship location on Chestnut Street. For foodies who have never tried El Merkury’s homemade churros, all expectations of the typical stick-shaped dessert can be wiped away: The Central American eatery creates churros that are a sight to behold — looping around in a foot-high circle and stuffed down into soft serve, the cinnamon-sugar, crunchy treats are pieces of art. Plus, for sauce fanatics, the churros come with a side of caramel and chocolate for dipping. Eagles Churros are available all day Monday through Saturday at El Merkury Chestnut Street, and exclusively on Sundays between 10 am – 6 pm at Reading Terminal Market.
Cake Life Bake Shop, the Fishtown bakery best known for award-winning cupcakes and for baking Beyonce’s birthday cake (twice!), has game-time cravings covered with Jason Kelce’s favorite sausage, Kielbasa Hungry Dogs! These touchdown dance fueling snacks, made with a flaky, buttery croissant dough wrapped around Swiacki’s iconic Kielbasa, pay homage to the underdog spirit of the Eagles and can be purchased in a 3-pack in store, ($8) or preordered in a 12-pack ($28) via Cake Life’s website. The bakery also boasts Eagles Cookies ($4.50 for 1 or $49 for 12) that can take any game-day watch party to the next level. Fans can ‘swoop’ in on these treats any day during the season (pre-orders or day-of purchases are not limited to game days!) during hours of operation: Wednesday – Saturday 8am – 9pm, Sunday 8am – 7pm.
No football game is complete without delicious wings, which is why Poi Dog Sauces, the woman and AAPI-owned line of Hawai’i at-home condiments, has teamed up with Crunchik’n, the woman-owned Korean fried chicken restaurant, to create pineapple-y Huli Huli Chicken Wings – fried Korean style wings marinated for 24-hours in Poi Dog’s signature savory Huli Huli sauce! Eagles fans can step up their kick-off spread exclusively on game days during hours of operation – available for takeout, delivery, and catering, wings can be purchased in the following sizes: 5 wings ($11.45), 8 wings ($16.95), and 10 wings ($17.45). Eagles supporters will also find the Crunch Dog ($7.25), a Korean corndog masterpiece slathered in Poi Dog’s Huli Huli sauce, with notes of sweet pineapple, deeply savory miso, and fragrant Chinese five-spice sauce — the ultimate game changer.
