1812 Productions- the all-comedy, all the time theatre company in Philly- returns this season with their 100th production! This Is The Week That Is IS the place you need to be. The show combines what’s going on in the world with songs, sketches, a Weekend Update-type segment reminding us how ridiculous everything is that surrounds us, and improv. It’s a “sit back and laugh” event that happens annually- for the past 18 years!
This season’s show is created and performed by Jennifer Childs (Producing Artistic Director), Sean Close, Pax Ressler, Jackie Soro, Lexi Thammavong, and Robyn Unger. It’s full of love, full of fun, characters you won’t see anywhere else, costumes that you wish you had, and talent you probably wish you had too!
Oh and there’s a chance for one lucky audience member to get pulled on stage for a brief sketch. Of course, I was that lucky audience member. When Jen asked me if I had any holiday traditions, all I could come up with is decorating the Christmas tree with my family…I didn’t even have it up at that point. But, This Is The Week That Is really could be considered a tradition for me. A new one, just a couple years in, but still a good one to have.
Grab dinner in Rittenhouse, stroll over to Plays and Players Theatre (tucked away on Delancey Street), pick up a cocktail at the show and settle in for two hours of real and relevant comedy.
Tickets, through December 31st, here.
