On Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Verizon Hall on the Kimmel Cultural Campus, journey to the land of the dead and experience a movie like you never have before! Disney Pixar’s COCO Live-to-Film Concert is this season’s can’t miss family event featuring a captivating soundtrack performance by Orquesta Folclórica Nacional de México. This new immersive experience showcases a screening of the heartwarming hit of Coco with Oscar-and Grammy-winning composer Michael Giacchino’s musical score performed live to the film.
In the lobby of the Kimmel Cultural Campus there will be a teaching artist presenting a two-minute dance demonstration set to music on stage, followed by a 20-minute opportunity for children to learn and participate in the dance. In addition to the dance demonstration, there will be an arts and crafts station set up where children and adults can channel their creativity.
Orquesta Folclórica Nacional de México is composed of a 20-person orchestra that stands out for its ability to combine a variety of pre-hispanic instruments with instruments from the colonial era, creating a unique genre and style of Mexican folk music that are distinctive of the rich history and culture of Mexico. Their energy, passion that the orchestra creates is an authentic experience that will create memories for audiences for years to come.
