New Ridge Brewing Co. announces Roxborough’s first beer festival with the debut of Taps Under the Towers, on Saturday, October 21st, 2023, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. This brand new beer festival will benefit Friends of the Wissahickon, and take place outside the brewery, in the Roxborough Pocket Park.
The event will feature unlimited beer samples from 20 local breweries, including Attic Brewing Company, Boardroom Spirits, Brewery ARS, Brewery Techne, Carbon Copy, Chestnut Hill Brewing Company, Dock Street Brewery, Human Robot, Iron Hill Brewery, Kings Road Brewing, Love City Brewing, Other Half, Punch Buggy Brewing, Sacred Vice Brewing Company, Two Locals Brewing, Wissahickon Brewing Company, Wrong Crowd Beer and more.
Tickets are $60 and include a 5 ounce tasting glass for unlimited pours. This event is 21 and older only, with identification. Tickets are on sale now at https://www.newridgebrew.com/events/
“Taps Under the Towers is a beer fest that we have wanted to do since we opened, a little over three years ago,” said Eric Endrikat, Co-Owner. “We just wanted a good day for the neighborhood, filled with a bunch of amazing beers from our friends’ breweries. This is the first beer fest in Roxborough, and we’re really excited to be the ones to bring it here!”
New Ridge Brewing Co. and friends will present Roxborough’s first beer festival as a way to spotlight and celebrate the diversity of styles of the local beer scene, while raising money for a great local cause near and dear to the hearts of the New Ridge family.
On top of the beer tasting, look for food for sale, including a whole pig roast from Green Meadow Farm with 1/2 pound roasted pork with bread for $12, falafel (gyro or plate) for $11, pasta salad for $3, grilled corn on the cob for $4 and more.
The event will also feature live music from Mitchell Street Phillbillies, an area local Roxborough band that blends rock, folk, and traditional music, among other genres, to produce an eclectic sound. Influenced by acclaimed artists such as Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen, the Phillbillies strive to honor great music in their cover performances. Comprised of Keegan Trainor on bass and guitar, Kevin McAnally on mandolin and guitar, Jonah Nichols also on bass and guitar, Mike Sharkansky on Drums, banjo, and accordion, and Haley Trainor on vocals, they are a versatile act of multi-instrumentalists that is sure to entertain.
A portion of proceeds from the event will be donated to Friends of the Wissahickon. This non-profit is dedicated to conserving, improving, and promoting wellbeing for over 1,800 acres of Wissahickon Valley Park. The Wiss is essential to our community, providing a playground of wildlife and activities for all. “The beer fest is a great opportunity to show our gratitude,” said Endrikat.
