Art breeds culture, and culture thrives in Germantown. This has been the GAD motto since its conception in November 2022. Germantown has always been a hub of creative expression for many artists and musicians, and the GAD supports and contributes to this creative ecosystem by partnering and collaborating with local artists, arts-based organizations, and businesses. To do this, the Germantown Arts District has been proudly hosting monthly Fourth Friday-themed events that allow creatives in the community to showcase their talents and skills. In celebration of Germantown by the people of Germantown, the Germantown Arts District invites the Germantown community and Philadelphia area to attend their very first GAD Block Party on September 22, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.
The Germantown Arts District Block Party aims to expand the visibility of the Germantown Arts District with creative activities and art exploration. The event will serve as an opportunity for the GAD and Germantown community members to connect and get to know each other better. Live music and dance performances, food trucks, local vendors, artists & games will allow guests and Philadelphia neighbors to immerse themselves in an evening of art, connection, community, and excitement. Kristen Clark, founder and executive director of the Germantown Arts District, is excited for guests to see all the exciting activities and artists featured at the upcoming Germantown Arts District Block Party.
“We are extremely excited to announce the first GAD Block Party—A celebration of creativity, culture, and community. Germantown Pride is something I have always had, like many of my neighbors. We are creating the Germantown we wish to see and want to give face and value to that idea. With this party, we hope to reach Germantown locals and supporters who have yet to fully embrace their creative selves and ignite the culture of the Germantown Arts Renaissance,” said GAD Founder Kristen Clark.
With the event only a few weeks away, the Germantown Arts District team is gearing up for this unforgettable event. The GAD Block Party promises an evening filled with fun, food, music, shopping, and arts, all at free admission for guests! Vendors, food trucks, artists, and performers will be featured along Germantown Avenue (5400 Block) from 5:00 P.M. EST to 10:00 P.M. EST.
As the Germantown Arts District celebrates past Fourth Friday events, they will also mark the organization’s future. The Germantown Arts District will announce the date of their first annual GAD Arts Festival coming to the area in the Spring of 2024! From live entertainment, amazing vendors/businesses, delectable food, and more, the Germantown Arts District Fourth Friday Block Party will be a night to remember.
