In celebration of Bucks County Playhouse’s production of “The Bridges of Madison County,” the Playhouse has announced a new partnership with Bucks County Joyrides to provide a one-of-a-kind immersive experience.

New Hope’s Bucks County Playhouse and the Lahaska-based Bucks County Joyrides have created “The Bridges of Bucks County Package” that combine the “5 Covered Bridge Joyride” with tickets to the Playhouse’s production of “The Bridges of Madison County” as well as a culinary experience at the Playhouse Deck Restaurant.

Starting at Bucks County Playhouse, expert guides will pick up guests in one of the company’s custom jeeps for a tour through the county’s winding roads and picturesque landscapes — supplying some Instagram-worthy memories. A maximum of four guests per jeep will visit five charming, historically significant covered bridges in the county including the Loux, Cabin Run, and Erwinna bridges. Upon returning to the Playhouse, participants will receive a $50 dining credit to Playhouse Deck Restaurant as well as tickets to see the Playhouse’s new production of the romantic Tony-winning musical, “The Bridges of Madison County,” which runs August 11 through September 10.

Highlights of the “The Bridges of Bucks County” package include:

  • A guided tour through some of Bucks County’s most iconic covered bridges with picturesque views of lush countryside and serene waterways.
  • Fascinating insights into the history and architecture of each bridge.
  • A unique opportunity to capture Instagram-worthy moments and create lasting memories.
  • Each participant will also receive a prime ticket to Bucks County Playhouse’s production of “The Bridges of Madison County.”
  • A $50 dining credit to Playhouse Deck Restaurant and Bar.

The Tony-Winning musical romance, “The Bridges of Madison County,” is a rapturous love story based on the best-selling novel by Thomas Waller. Francesca Johnson, a beautiful Italian woman who married an American soldier to flee war-ravaged Italy, looks forward to a rare four days alone on her Iowa farm when her family heads to the 1965 State Fair. Her plans change, however, when a chance encounter with a ruggedly handsome, National Geographic photographer leads to a whirlwind relationship that forever alters the course of Francesca’s life. This sweeping romance features the 2014 Tony-Winning score by Broadway’s Jason Robert Brown (“Parade”).

“We are very excited to work with Bucks County Joy Rides on this Covered Bridge package. The extraordinary beauty of our region, combined with the emotional journey brought to life onstage in ‘The Bridges of Madison County makes for a very special date experience,'” says Adele Adkins, Managing Director.

“The Bridges of Bucks County” package is available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays starting August 11. Tours cost $178 per person including fees. There is limited availability. A schedule is provided on the Playhouse’s website. Black-out dates may apply.
