The Miracle Club is in theatres now!

Just say the words “Sony Picture Classics” and I’m in! This latest release is far from summer blockbuster status as you’re transported to 1960s Ireland, the small town of Ballygar to be exact.

The story follows three friends- Lily (Maggie Smith), Eileen (Kathy Bates), and Dolly (Agnes O’Casey)- on a quest for a little bit of excitement. Their husbands would prefer they stay home though! With a talent show performance, the women hope to win first prize, a trip to Lourdes. Dolly’s young son doesn’t speak and she’s certain a cure can be found in sacred French town.

Adding to the plot is the recent death of their lifelong friend and the return of her daughter Chrissie (Laura Linney) who moved to the US over 40 years prior. As the women travel and explore Lourdes, we learn more about their connections, why Chrissie left, and what that means to Eileen and Lily.

The Miracle Club is a beautiful story about friendship, secrets, loss and forgiveness with a stellar cast of performers. It’s directed by award-winning Irish filmmaker Thaddeus O’Sullivan, and based on a story by Jimmy Smallhorne, with a screenplay by Smallhorne, Timothy Prager and Joshua D. Maurer.
