On the heels of a successful South Street Fest that brought over 30,000 people to South Street, the South Street Headhouse District is welcoming the return of “Meet Me On South Street”. This will be an on-going event series highlighting street activations and block parties in the district, as well as recurring events such as a new mid-week Farmers Market, pop-up music performance from The No Name Pops, and more! The Meet Me On South Street event series aims to highlight the unique and #SlightlyOffCenter experiences available on South Street.
The Meet Me On South Street event series officially kicks off with a July 15th Bastille Day Block Party with The Good King Tavern. Monthly through September include live pop-up performances from The No Name Pops. And many more events to come!
The SSHD is excited to be partnering with the Philadelphia-based pops orchestra, The No Name Pops composed of the former musicians of the Philly POPS, to put on a four-part summer concert series on South Street. No Name Pops will be on South Street for monthly pop-up performances from June through August culminating in a full orchestra performance on South Street on September 9th. These performances will range from quartets to big band swing, funk/soul sing-a-longs and even the full orchestra performance, all in different areas within the SSHD (Dates and more details coming soon).
As part of the Meet Me On South Street event series and with support from the South Street Police Mini Station, the South Street Headhouse District invites people of all ages to come out and enjoy pedestrian-only streets on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings starting June 16, 2023, through Fall 2023. On South Street from 6th to 2nd Streets, pedestrians can dine in the street, shop sidewalk sales, bar hop, admire and adorn the free art wall outside Jim’s Steaks, and so much more!
In addition to street activations, there are a number of other Meet Me On South Street events coming to South Street, Free Sunday Arts & Crafts every week at Tattooed Mom; three new art exhibits celebrating the 45th anniversary of the collectively-owned and operated 3rd Street Gallery; and the longstanding Headhouse Farmers Market, hosted by The Food Trust every Sunday under the Headhouse Shambles.
After a successful South Street Fest that highlighted food, drinks, and arts experiences on South Street, plus the South Street Art Market which joined small businesses and local artists with a Double Dutch Meetup, the Meet Me On South Street event series aims to welcome new and returning guests to the South Street Headhouse District with one-of-a-kind, family-friendly experiences that showcase everything South Street has to offer!
