PINK TRIANGLE LEGACIES: COMING OUT IN THE SHADOW OF THE HOLOCAUST
June 15th
Book Launch and Conversation, In Person
Delve into the legacy of the pink triangle and how knowledge of the Holocaust shaped the fight for queer liberation and influenced American gay rights activism. As a symbol used by the Nazis to identify and persecute queer men and transgender women, the pink triangle has since been reclaimed as a symbol of resistance and pride. The conversation will be moderated by Jake Newsome, author of “Pink Triangle Legacies.” Panelists include organizers and activists from Queer communities across Philadelphia including Galia Godel (J. Proud Philly), Jazmyn Henderson (ACT UP Philadelphia) and Mark Segal (Philadelphia Gay News).
SPECIAL EXHIBITION TOURS WITH ARTIST HOROWITZ
June 25th
Exhibition tour, In Person
Artist Jonathan Horowitz leads a small group tour of his special exhibition, “The Future Will Follow the Past.” Horowitz’s work features pieces that address LGBTQ+ related topics, including “Pink Curve” (a hybrid of an Elsworth Kelly sculpture and the badge that gay men were forced to wear in Nazi Germany) and his glitter painting “Rainbow American Flag for Jasper in the Style of the Artist’s Boyfriend.”

June 29th
