Bristol Riverside Theatre announces productions for 2023/24 Mainstage Season

Bristol Riverside Theatre (BRT) is proud to announce its 2023/24 Mainstage theatre season featuring classic film adaptations, the innocence and mischief of childhood, a timeless theatrical masterpiece, a camp-meets-horror comedy, and an introduction to the next rising comedic stars. In its 37th season, BRT is eager to present first-class entertainment and culture to audiences. Each of BRT’s productions will offer guests special pre- and post-show engagements, included with the price of the ticket, for guests to create a special night out.

Throughout the season, guests can look forward to fresh, exciting interpretations of stories and films, beginning on October 3 with BRT’s presentation of the campy horror-comedy The Mystery of Irma Vep by Charles Ludlam. 

The second show of the season brings the magic of the holiday season to the stage with an adaptation of Jean Sheppard’s beloved 1983 comedy, A Christmas Story: The Play.

In 2024, BRT brings theatergoers the best in culture and literature with A Raisin in the Sun, the landmark 1959 play by Lorraine Hansberry.

In a theater season of wishes and dreams, audiences can look forward to BRT’s presentation of Big: The Musical, the tuneful, vibrant, and hilarious musical adaptation of Tom Hank’s 1988 blockbuster hit.

The best ‘closers’ bring every laugh to bear for the season’s final production Comedian Rhapsody – The Best of The Second Citya side-splitting tribute to sketch comedy and improvisation. The revue features sketch comedy, songs, and the trademark improvisation featuring rising stars from Chicago’s oldest ongoing improv comedy theater, The Second City.
